"Foot" found in chicken nuggets was actually made of dough
Whoever did this was one sick (hush)puppy.

The Tantrum Tamer
This is what's wrong with society today.
And on a different note, we are moving to the Big(ger) City as of tomorrow, so I will be offline for a few days until our DSL gets turned on. Don't have too much fun without me!

When the rats are making off with your raw chicken at night...
...it might be time to get out of the restaurant biz.
Favorite quote from the article:
The court heard Vincent had got a farmer to set a rat trap and lay bait, but Mr Plummer described this as "woefully inadequate".

Britain to Italy: You stink.
Rounding out my food theme for today (unintentional, honest), is this item from the Herald Sun.
I'm envisioning a similar campaign for the D.C. Metro: "Please use deodorant before boarding the trains. We don't want you stinking like a Frenchman."
Or perhaps the Chicago El: "Be considerate! Leave your stinky tamale behind on the platform!" This one of course would be illustrated with a picture of a Mexican guy wearing a sombrero and firing a pistol while eating a taco with the other hand, and captioned "Don't be like the Burrito Bandido!"
Of course, the French are already pissed off at us, and nobody cares about Mexico, so maybe we should try a new tack: "Just say no to sushi! The entire country of Japan smells like day-old fish; don't make this subway train be the same!"
We've been wanting to increase sales of domestic automobiles anyway, right? I think this plan is a winner.

A food critic visits the Olive Garden
And is predictably unimpressed.
Personally I used to like the Olive Garden until two separate people of my acquaintance found foreign objects in their salads while eating there (a piece of plastic bag that presumably the lettuce came in, and a bolt, respectively) and were shrugged off by the management. I figure any restaurant can occasionally screw up and allow a piece of machinery to find its way into the food, but if they then act like it's no big deal, it's probably more than occasional.

The Kerry Doctrine
It's not too often that I run across an opinion piece that is genuinely of value, in that it gives me information I didn't already have, or causes me to think about things in a different way, or to consider them in a new light. This is one of those rare pieces.
