Back from vacation!
We are back....had a wonderful, glorious week on the South Carolina beach....but it was very, very hard-fought....
--Upon leaving for S. Carolina, a 12 hr drive, in the middle of a fierce electrical storm and in the dark with a car full of antsy kids, I drove like mad up into the garage to turn off the forgotten light....forgetting that the fully-loaded turtle shell was atop the car...clearance w/o the shell is but one inch....to the shock and horror of all, I sheared that baby right off.
the 2nd time i've done that in the past 3 years!
--oldest child Mary and her fiance Steve broke down in Western Carolina and were told they would have to wait 2 days to get their car repaired....they were spared when a "lil, squat dude with a cigar stopped on the side of the freeway and said, after surveying the damage: "I know I can git that with my chain!" And he did...yanking the entire exhaust system off with a whack that Steve said sounded "just like a gunshot!"
--I won't even go into how I stabbed myself in the calf, later in the week, keeping me out of the water the last day!
Anyway, we had a fabulous time and I'll put up photos during the week, starting with this, my favorite...

I need to give ya'll my number. So if anyone is ever stranded in my neck of the woods at least they'll be able to have a friendly face swing by.

No chain, but it makes for a good excuse to see friends I haven't seen in...jeebus, has it really been 15 years?
