I don't see what the problem is; these are time-honored English food preparation techniques. It is precisely this approach to the culinary arts that earns British gastronomy it's richly deserved reputation.

It can't possibly be limited to the English, BIL. When I was in high school, it was widely known that a local restaurant's chain flavored its cola product with rat's feet!
