Kerry team slams reports VP Cheney had a flu shot
C'mon, Kerry, you have to do better than this. This is just pathetic: "Once again, the Bush administration proves that it is the 'do as we say, not as we do' White House." Bush said that people who are old or sick should get the shot. Cheney has heart disease and, like him or not...and I don't like him, he's the Vice-President of the country. There's plenty of real issues out there. Stick to 'em.

Curse? What Curse?
Never mind that the Red Sox have yet to win a World Series since 1918. Even if they blow this one, last night's Game 7 will go down in history as "the day that Sox citizens were liberated from 8 decades of torment and torture at the hands of the New York Yankees", as Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy put it. I know some of you are apathatic to any Red Sox win, but allow me this one indulgence solely because this quote sums up the sweetness of it all: "This was for Williams and Pesky, for Yastrzemski and Yawkey, for Fisk and Rice and even Buckner and Nomar, just a few of the hundreds who suffered the pain inflicted by their New York neighbors in a rivalry that has become baseball's best."
Amen, brother.

Mike Lupica: No game bigger or better
As the old announcer used to say in Detroit "Here we go...Hang on to your Stroh's." {Stroh's being a local beer} It's games like this which will help ease the loss of hockey.

Dear Limey assholes
Clark County is 100 miles from Hooterville, a straight shot across I-70. I've been there a few times; it's the home of Wittenberg University and is also home to the slowest McDonald's I have ever eaten at. Anyway, I digress from the link which is about the efforts of The Guardian to sway the American election by giving its readers the names and addresses of Clark County residents. Many readers then wrote the Ohioans to point out how the American election affects the English, with suggestions, I am sure, as how to vote. The replies, as you can guess, are hilarious.

Minneapolis is named the "Best City for Sleep"
What's this? "Detroit was named the worst city for a good night's sleep." This reminds me of that Motown night in late May of 1982 when my Darling Wife and I were awakened to the sounds of nearby gunfire, followed within seconds by shrieks I can still hear to this day. A thirteen year old, upset about a girl, drove up in his car and shot a fourteen year old in the head. The next day the victim's mother was on the tube, crying "My baby! my baby!" I knew that kid. He used to deal drugs on our block and sneer whenever I walked past. That night Detroit was indeed a bad city for a good night's sleep.
