Who is more duplicitous?

A) Newt Gingrich is "open" to the idea of running for president.

This is the man who trumpeted "family values" until it was time to divorce his wife and marry his girl friend. Oh, and he got his ex to sign a financial agreement foregoing all new income just months before signing a 7 figure book deal.

or

B)John Kerry meets with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This is the man who just lost the presidency and now he's meeting with al_Assad. Assad who allowed open access to any Hussein Government official who could escape? Assad who may very well have some of Saddam's WMD's safely tucked away?

You make the call.

Legal scholar in midst of check probe

Sometimes a story comes down that is so stupid that it's hard to believe. We've come to expect crooks, for instance, to video their crimes then to lose the video. Court TV even has a Stupid Crimes Web Page. But, what about this one: a University of Miami law professor claims he got stung for over 1 mill by a Nigerian email scammer! Nice try, Professor, but your story is...uhm...kind of hard to believe. What is more likely is that he was in cahoots, which is what is being alleged by a 3rd party who lost the dough and wants it back.

U.S. paid journalist to tout law

Armstrong Williams, a paid hack? Too bad. I liked his enthusiasm, if not his politics. You have to wonder now about Michael Medved, Laura Ingraham, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Michael Reagan and the rest of the conservative media crew. I can already hear the protestations, but the same denials would have occurred last week concerning Mr. Williams.

India Daily: India may be the first country to explain to the world about extra-terrestrial and UFO contacts – the secret debate is on

What a hoot this piece is. If this were true, why is the lead headline "India cuts levy on Mobile phone rates"? Are cell phone rates more important than the supposed fact that "Military officials and politicians have confessed the fact that India has been contacted. India has been told the rules of the Universe"?

Also amusing is this bit: "The recent rush of world leaders to India is remarkable. Starting from Russian President Putin to major Senators from America have visited or are planning to visit India. European Union is in deep discussion with India on cooperation."

Ah, so that's what Colin Powell is really doing in India! Cutting a deal with the Deep Space Affiliation! Silly us; we all thought he was there because of the tsunami.

TV Appeal by Richard Gere Perplexes Palestinians

"Hi, I'm Richard Gere and I'm speaking for the entire world. We're with you during this election time. It's really important. Get out and vote."

Gere thinks he speaks for the entire world? What an egotistical maniac. I think I speak for more of the world than he does when I say "Richard? Shut the fuck up!"

Bloody Hell's Kitchen

This article asks the same question I was posing to BIL, when he was visiting last week: "When was it, exactly, that home economists took over the Food Network?" Low-carb shows and the like now populate slots formerly owned by Mario Bateli and Jacques Pepin. Instead of recipes for salt-crusted salmon we are getting cheeseburger and jello shows. There might be more revenue due to the change, but it's a dummying-down that will have unfortunate national consequences in not providing new cooks direction and inspiration.

Eight six seven five three oh nine

Remember the old Tommy Tutone hit "Jenny (867-5309)"? Well, someone had way too much time on his hands and called that number in every freaking area code in the US and Canada and asked for Jenny. The replies for each code are posted.

Coulter 2005

Lippy syndicated pundit Ann Coulter shoots from the hip and some of her targets are right on, such as her unbridled praise for Larry David and his "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Yet, her "we should nuke North Korea" cannot possibly be serious. What if we are as mistaken about North Korea's nuclear build up as we were about Iraq's? A theory outlined recently in The New Republic.

Canadian unit still packing a week after Italian team arrived in Sri Lanka

Take your time, Canada....it's not like this is an emergency: "By the time Canada's Disaster Assistance Response Team lands in Sri Lanka, its Italian counterparts will have been up and running in this devastated city for more than a week."
