The Rainbow Muffler and {B}rake Center

Stopped in rainy Findlay, Ohio on our way up to Detroit last week to feed the troops and we were marvelling at a rainbow when Mike, 12, yelled "Look, Dad, there's the Rainbow Brake Shop! At the same time we are seeing an actual rainbow!" I reached under my seat to grab my camera, but had left it at home. I turned to ask Mike for his, but he had forgotten his. Abby, 9, however came to the rescue, "Here, Dad, you can use mine!"
Hers was a $5 disposable I had given her for the Fourth of July.

40 Things That Only Happen In Movies
Some really good ones here, like #33's "L-shaped sheets" and numbers 30 and 25. However, they missed the hero walking away from burning explosions without ever turning back to look, otherwise known as the "Nicholas Cage Rule."

The Costco Challenge: An Alternative to Wal-Martization?
We used to be members of Sam's Club, so I'm aware of that system, but last month I had my first taste of Costco when our daughter's fiance and I picked up some fuel for the wedding reception. The guard at the door, checking ID's, didn't bother me, nor did the cavernous aisles. I've seen that before. I didn't like the dozen or so employees, scattered throughout the store, giving away free samples, while there only three registers open. It shows you Costco's priorities. They push goods and once you have those goods in your cart, then you wait....and wait...and wait to get out. I won't even go in to their policy of not accepting credit cards for the wedding punch, while accepting debit cards.

Marx on Ice
Don Cherry, CBC's resident hockey guru, said Wednesday that the new labor agreement is "sorta socialist, so Canada should like it." Well, I don't like it, but the team I've followed for over 40 years was one of the "haves," and in a socialist sytem that just won't do.

Bloggers learn the price of telling too much
This caught my eye primarily because this report mentions blogging in relation to teenagers, and I'd just been reading an article where local teens were bemoaning the fact that the state is planning to raise the driving age limit to 17 1/2. One teen grumbled: "I've heard some people think ... teens today are supposedly less mature than they were in years past. How lame is that?" Another complained, "I don't believe teens are less mature today .. they are forced to face the harsh realities that back then only adults had to deal with. A lot of kids are less sheltered and have to deal with things on their own, much more so than in the past." Obviously, they haven't yet reached that chapter in their history books about child labor, slavery and homeless kids.

Google Wins 'Typosquatting' Dispute
Logging in from Sterling Hgts, Mich:
Ran into one of these bastards about a year ago when I typed "go9ogle.com." Suddenly my screen was alive with pop-ups and I was getting the always-pleasant message "Would you like to make 'http://www.wehavetakenoveryourcomputer.com/you/poor/sap" as your homepage? I recall screaming.
