BBC News: One blog created 'every second'
Ah, but what is the mortality rate? I can't tell you the number of blogs I've run across that haven't been updated in the past 18 months.

I bought a Lacie 180GB external drive for backup purposes. The sad thing is I had it up and running before my computer crashed. I even have a direcctory for backup and the drive. I just never backed anything up!
Why?
Why?
Why?

Somewhere along the line, Steve, you pissed off the computer gods. You must now make amends.

I've never had a hard drive actually crash on me. I've had one start acting funny, so that I knew a crash was coming, I eventually replaced it after about six months of the pecular behavior.
The computer gods must like me.

What are you doing cruising obscure blogs, anyway? :)

Want to know something even sadder? WinXP SP2 nearly killed my computer last winter and it was only through sheer luck that I was able to ftp critical files to a friend's server for storage. I ended up having to wipe and re-install my hard drive. Guess who hasn't gotten a CD burner yet?
