Dobson Concerned Over Bush Supreme Court Choice
The Creator who made our Solar System, the Milky Way and the Universe is going to give Focus on the Family media chief James Dobson a sign whether Harriet Miers is a good choice for the Supreme Court? It's too silly to contemplate. These are the kind of people who are advising our president. Scary stuff.

Paul Pena dies
Genghis Blues was a quirky, but fun movie. Pena, however, seemed to me to be about 70, not in his late 40's, when that was made.

Do not read this story while eating dinner
Colorful story about the rancid contents of New Orleans' abandoned refrigerators. Choice quotes from the article:
New Orleans is a ripe-smelling town at the best of times. But Katrina coated yards, cars, houses and just about everything else with a film of dried muck that smells like low tide multiplied by 10.
...
“The smell of opening the freezers and refrigerator compartments doesn’t compare to anything I’ve smelled in medicine,” said Dr. Brobson Lutz, the city’s former health director and a French Quarter resident. “And that’s worse than when I worked one summer at a New York medical school and had to autopsy bodies that floated up during July and August in the East River.”
...
The refrigerators and their contents, however, do not pose any real health dangers, Lutz said, except if someone “with a queasy stomach” were to faint and hit his head.

PayPal hit by payment problems
Spent 20 minutes on the phone with Paypal this morning. Not over the double billing as stated in the article, but in disagreement with their demand of the addition of a bank or checking account to any account that has purchased over $2000 in total purchases. If you have purchased over 2 grand from paypal, you have to add a savings or bank account number and you henceforth must go in manually on every subsequent purchase and check off the "pay from credit card" option. If you don't do that, they will automatically debit your bank account. The system, therefore, is set up to more easily accomodate bank account withdrawals and I objected. Oh, I am sure they have a study that shows that over-all payments from bank accounts are superior to credit card payments, but, as I told the Paypal lady, is this a way to treat veteran customers? The more one uses the system, the more they are distrusted? She got a little testy, "Sir, no one is forcing you to use our system." Now, that's a great advertising slogan: "If you don't like the way we do things, go away!"
