Reality shows hit hard times
Just like westerns, cop shows, mystery shows and supernatural shows, reality shows are showing themselves to be cyclic. Could it be Americans' fascination with voyeurism, fellow human suffering, and melodrama is finally coming to an end?

Yankee season crashes down
How sweet it is to have both Boston and the Yanks out in the quarterfinals. With two teams from the Midwest, one from the South and one from the West we'll be minus that annoying East Coast bias for the balance of this year's playoffs.

What is up with Sprint/Nextel?
As you may know, Sprint and Nextel have merged, or, to be more precise, Sprint bought Nextel for a cool $35 billion. DW and I use Nextel and pay $39 each, per month. So, it came as a total surprise the other day when Sprint called to lure us away from Nextel with a $29/month offer. Same service, $10 cheaper per month, per account. I could understand if this were Verizon or Cingular trying to woo us, but it was Sprint, the left hand, trying to take an account from Nextel, its own right hand. The telemarketer had no explanation, other than "we are trying to save you money!" Son Tommy thinks Sprint is plundering Nextel and then they'll sell it. I haven't read anything affirming this, but it's the only thing that makes sense so far.

Fake dog testicles win acclaim at Ig Nobels
Had to post this one. The whackiest part is that the guy's actually making money. While we're on the subject of "great" ideas, how about this.
